Proteome Analysis
Understanding how the proteome changes in response to a diverse array of metabolic, genomic and environmental changes is the heart of proteomics. The CIB offers an integrated series of services that allow you to access this critical information.
To begin the process please submit samples that you would like compared. The following steps can be taken to measure changes in protein levels:
- DIGE 2D gels will be processed
- Results analyzed on the Typhoon Trio + variable mode imager to identify changes in the proteome between two treatments.
- This gel is then transferred to the Ettan spot picker, where the identified proteins of interest are removed from the gel.
- The accumulated gel plugs are automatically digested by the ProPrep Workstation.
- The fragment patterns of these tryptic peptides obtained by the reflectron MALDI-TOF spectrometer are compared to public protein databases (e.g., NCBI, SwissProt) via the Mascot peptide mass fingerprint interface.
- The result: a quantitative listing of the proteins that are increasing or decreasing in abundance in response to your treatment.
