Bioinformatics is the systematic development and application of information technologies and data mining techniques for analyzing data obtained by experiments, modeling, database searching, and instrumentation to make novel observations about biological processes.

Services

Hardware

The CIB's Apple Workgroup Cluster provides campus researchers with the computing horsepower necessary to run large datasets using the latest bioinformatics analysis tools. Four open-access computers are also provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Software

The software offerings in the Bioinformatics group will help researchers in Proteomics and Functional Genomics studies.

Bioinformatics Analysis Service

The Bioinformatics service offers a broad spectrum of analyses that are suited for today's biologists with high throughput data. From single sequence feature analysis to multi-genome comparisons to microarray data analysi and visualization, a large set of capabilities is available in house for rapid layering of a biological context onto any data type.
